WHERE IN THE WORLD IS (ARE) UNITED METHODIST WOMEN?

Ca-Nv Conference Committee on Nominations

 

ARE YOU A “Woman in Mission” who is now,  would like to become, or knows of someone who would like to: 

A.

  • Advocate, support and speak out for the basic needs of children, such as adequate housing, nutrition, health care and quality education?

  • Provide training in violence prevention, peacemaking skills and conflict resolution for children and youth?
  • Provide opportunities for women to tutor children, advocate for adequate funding for public education and ensure that policies against sexual harassment are in place and enforced?
  • Advocate for U.S. involvement in multilateral discussions and actions via the United Nations on issues that significantly affect the world community?
  • Read the Charter for Racial Justice Policies and do some serious study about racism.  Learn about the covert and overt ways racism operates in our society and how it affects all of us?
  • Work toward the elimination of racism in the church and community; through study and discussion using the videos, “In Search of Racial Justice” and “The Charter for Racial Justice – A History” and the leaflet “Why Have a Charter for Racial Justice Policies?”

 B.

  • Actively work to fulfill the PURPOSE of the United Methodist Women as liaison among the members of the districts and their units?
  • Become informed and recognize the needs of the women in the UMW Districts/Units?
  • Explore possibilities for resourcing, nurturing and revitalizing districts/units?
  • Searching for, enlisting members and interpreting the PURPOSE.
  • Working cooperatively with the other Mission Coordinators?

C.

  • Help to ensure that the leadership of the conference organization reflects the diversity of, and is representative of the membership within the conference.  All elements of diversity recognizes that “All means All.”

There may be a special place at the table of the Ca-Nv Conference United Methodist Women’s MISSION TEAM
